Staff Support

We strive to promote an environment of employee health and wellness through a diverse staff support system including: clinical training opportunities, wellness programs, generous benefits packages, clinical supervision, EAP and more.

All of our clinical staff receive weekly individual and group supervision.  We have many licensed clinical supervisors & we strive to connect unlicensed staff with a supervisor who can provide the necessary supervision staff need to obtain licensure.  We encourage dual licensure for masters prepared clinical staff.  Our philosophy of clinical supervision supports competency in treating co-occurring disorders & the whole person.

Providing access to counseling and support for staff members and their adult family member

24/7 CONFIDENTIAL access to an experienced, licensed counselor aligned with your needs. They will gather information, evaluate your needs, and put a plan of action in motion. EAP is here to provide solutions and support to people managing busy lives.

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a free and confidential program available to support you and your adult household members at home and work. All EAP sessions are held in strict confidence. No information, including your name, will be released to your employer or anyone else without your consent. The only exceptions are those required by law, such as if you are a danger to yourself or others.

We respect your privacy and do not believe that we should interfere with your personal life. There are times, however, when personal problems might have an adverse effect upon your personal life or work performance. The EAP provides you with a means, outside the Agency, of dealing with such problems that does not risk an intrusion into your private life.

The foundation of our culture is built on the practice of teamwork and building a lifelong commitment to learning, expanding one’s individual skill base, and stretching your comfort zone with new challenges. We embrace these practices in all of our programs and across all of our sites.

To assist our clinical staff with obtaining and maintaining their professional licensure, we offer 20 – 30 hours per year of on-site, free clinical training opportunities that are CEU approved by various licensing boards in the State of Vermont. By providing these trainings on-site, and with our own senior clinical staff, we provide both a learning opportunity as well as a teaching opportunity for senior clinical staff.

In the past we have sponsored CEU approved trainings on the following topics:

  • Ethical & Risk Management Practices in Documenting & Disclosing Mental Health & Substance Use Information
  • Prenatal Substance Use Treatment
  • Developmental Trauma & Neurobiology in Children
  • Tool of Treatment for Mandated Violent Offenders
  • Advanced Ethics for Alcohol & Drug Counselors & Supervisors

In addition to our own clinical trainings, CMC employees have unlimited access to the Relias Learning Management System with over 1000 modules of current, fresh training content on a wide variety of behavioral health, addictions, and human services trainings.  Many of the Relias modules have been approved by national boards for use with professional licensing/relicensing.

At Clara Martin Center, staff is encouraged to balance their professional career with their personal & family goals. This philosophy is demonstrated by providing new staff with a generous time-off package and options for flexible schedules that support an employee’s career and family needs.

Clara Martin Center strives to promote an environment of employee health and wellness. A dedicated Employee Wellness Committee designs programs for staff to participate in across all locations. Clara Martin sponsors annual events such as the Governors Corporate Cup Challenge, The Prouty, and Vermont’s National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) walkathon. Individual sites also implement site-based activities for staff to engage in.

The Employee Wellness Committee also encourages healthy activities outside of the office by sponsoring events such as annual Apple Picking in the fall at local participating orchards for employees and their families.

Some agency-wide activities have included:

  • Annual Summer Retreat
  • Fun at Work Campaign
  • Mile A Day Walking Challenge
  • Minute to Win It

Internships

Clara Martin Center is proud to sponsor clinical internships for students working towards a master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, addictions, criminal justice, and marriage and family therapy.  The diverse work environment offers opportunities for students to start with basic interventions and build up to more complex clinical services as skill level and confidence grows. In recent years, Clara Martin has worked with graduate-level students from Antioch University, Simmons College, Union Institute, Vermont Technical College, University of Vermont, Goddard College, Lesley University, Northern Vermont University, and many more.

To inquire about internship openings, please send your resume and a cover letter including the number of internship hours you are seeking to HR@claramartin.org

Students are typically invited to participate in an interview process to determine the best possible placement based on desired geographic location, clinical population, work schedule, and skill level. As open positions allow, students are encouraged to apply for regular permanent positions upon completion of their degree. Many master-level clinical staff members started as clinical interns and became regular permanent staff upon graduation.
