Austin Elected To National Board of Directors

Tammy Austin, Director of Child and Family Services at Clara Martin Center, has been elected Secretary of the Board of Directors for the Association of Marital and Family Therapy Regulatory Boards (AMFTRB). Her two-year term will begin in January 2016.

Austin served as the AMFTRB Vermont Delegate for the past six years. The association is composed of a delegate from each state licensing board. The Board of Directors is elected to office by these delegates.

AMFTRB assists state licensing boards in regulating marriage and family therapy practices. AMFTRB is most widely known for its oversight of the Marriage and Family Therapy National Exam, used to grant licensure to applicants who have attained the knowledge considered essential for entry‑level professional practice.

Austin earned her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Syracuse University and obtained licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). She is designated by the Commissioner of Mental Health as a Qualified Mental Health Professional. Since 2003, Austin has worked at Clara Martin Center serving as a Child and Family Clinician, Child and Family Team Leader, and currently, Director of Child and Family Services.
